Hi guys!! I read lot of post concerning choke probleme on force engine . i did try few test becose i dont have any mouvement on my choke selenoide. I try to activate it with a other source 12v and still dont work. So i gess the selenoide is dead. The last owner try to make it work but he fried the green wire connect to it. i replace the wire ... but im not getting 12v on the green wire when i start becose the switch is not original so my question is if i replace the selenoide can i feed a 12v controle by a switch on that choke ?

89 force 125 hp

any help will be apreciate thanks

Re: Force 125 choke problem

Well, get a VOM (volt ohm meter) and check the resistance of the solenoid. put one probe on the terminal and the other on the case. It should read low ohms. If it reads 0 ohms, there is a short and if it reads infinite ohms, there is a break in the coils.

If it tests OK, then check the wire to it. There shaould be a "C" terminal on the ignition switch. the green wire attaches to this AND choke is engaged usually by pushing in on the key.

You can get a single pole switch and run 12 volts to one side of it. Attach the green wire to the other side. If you think the green wire is burned inside the cable (and this is likely since you said the green wire was melted inside the engine), just run a separate wire back to the engine terminal board.

See my private message to you.

Re: Force 125 choke problem

Basically it sounds like you want to bypass the original switch that is on your keyed switch when you push it in. I would take a voltage check there first to see if that is good. If so, the problem is between that and the choke. If this is the case, I would change the wire from the switch to the choke. If your switch is bad, you may be able to find a replacement or to answer your question, I would think that you could use a good toggle switch to replace the original switch.

Re: Force 125 choke problem

Just a quick question, are you pushing in the key to try and activate the choke? The only reason I ask is because when I first bought my boat, the guy never told me about that.. So all the time I thought the wires or something was wrong and manually had to choke it to get it to start( was a sight to see at the water ).
