Force 125 help? Very slow!!

I am posting for a friend..He has a force 125, lates 90's...It only gets a top speed of 12mph wot..The motor runs great but somthing is not right..It doesnt even get on plane..He has it on a 18' CC Welcraft..It should get up on plane with no problem and fly...Can anyone take a guess what would cause this? He is not a computer person so im trying to help him out..

I dont think it would be the prop?

Any help would be great

You say it runs good and only gets 12mph then the speedo could be wrong the pick up tube clogged.Is it really slow or just the gauge.
Then the prop hub could be spun.
What kind of RPM's is it running when wide open?Does it rev up .More info please.J

Jerry thanks for the reply,,It is not the speedo..The gps shows it doing 9mph -12mph..It revs up fine..I Didnt really look at the rpm..Its like the boat is pulling 4 5gal buckets behind it!!! It wont get up on plane I guess i can pull the prop and check it and see if its spun? I just trying to help it him get it running right!! I thought if the prop was spun it wouldnt spin at all in the water?

Spun props will sometimes spin some.Enough to get you moving.
Does the motor rev up and the boat just not go?? More info,J

Boat goes, but wont get up..just seems to plow threw the water...It will rev up with no problem..It really has me confused...Starts up perfect doesnt stall..Runs great..But at 12mph wot there is somthing wrong!!

I'm with jerry.... probably a spun hub. I used to have a capri with the same motor, spun a hub and had almost the same syptoms you describe. oh yeah and just an FYI, don't expect that force to perform like most other 125hp's...cuz it won't.

Ok im going to check the hub and let you guys know...I had a 1990 merc 115hp inline 6 and it would scream..this boat id 5times lighter then mine also..There is no way the top speed should be 10-12mph..

Is it revving up to max rpm's while doing 12 mph?......or is it revving up in Nuetral?

Make sure he unhooked the boat from the trailer!...LOL...(just kidding).
Sounds like a lower unit problem to me as well. If his floatation foam is saturated with water, it would contribute to lower speeds but not 12mph.

Still waiting to get over there and pull his prop off..Yes it is revving up to high RPM's when doing 12mph..

I will let you guys know the results on the prop ASAP..
