This is an '86 model year 4 cylinder engine with black CDs and coils. While poking around the engine I noticed #1 ign coil had black smudge around where the plug wire exits the coil, it looked like its shorted or burned? It does not pass the sniff test either, so its burned some for sure. The other three look ok and the last time out it ran out ok , 42 mph on 18 foot Starcraft, and good high speed throttle response. What could cause this to burn? Any idea which ignition system it is, I maybe able to post a picture if I can figure how it works. Where can I get replacement coils? I did find part#6154475 as original with replacement 182-4475R at IBOATS, can anyone varify if I got it right. The CDs and coils are the black ones, but I don't have a part number as my Clymer book don't give any p/n that I saw anyway. Some have talked about the blue ones here on this forum and as I recall they are prestolite? but I can't remember who makes the black ones like I have. Also, they blacks and blues are interchangeable, right? HC
