Hello All,
What I did: I just finished a test of the ignition system and would like the groups input on my results (see below).
Why I did it: the boat is new to me, bought it with a “non running engine” – after changing the fuel out and cleaning the carbs, she runs! But has a heavy miss in Mid Range RPM. Starts and idles smooth, high end is smooth w/power, but mid range shakes the boat! Side Note: compressions are all good & equal.
What I found: I had been questioning the quality of the spark on #2; it fired on the test plug set at 7/16, but just wasn’t as crisp as 1,3, & 4. I worked from the stator-trigger-module-coil. I found that the high tension lead for #2 gave no resistance/conductivity. Dissected it, and somewhere in its depths it is mostly dead... I am replacing the coil. One other thing that came out of the tests was that the CD Modules are sending ~100v less then test specs to the coils. They are consistent, but low – any thoughts on this?
