Hi guys, got a strange one here. At least strange to me. Background- my forward gear decided to drop a tooth and then, of course, continued cleaning out the remaining bits pretty much. So i bought a used parts engine, with a misfire.

Pulled the water pump off, seemed ok for now and ill order one this week. Drained the oil, all good just dirty. great, no leaks or water inside. bolted it on and tried it out. works excellent. Actually better than my old one.
Got back to the dock and noticed the "oil" in the water trail.... great.

Trailered it home, and by the time I got home it looked like this: rsz_lower_2.jpgrsz_1lower_unit_leak.jpg

Looks like oil is leaking out around three little orifices near the lower bolts... I've never seen this before. it's almost like the lower is getting overfilled from the water pump?? perhaps under that plate the water pump housing bolts on top of? The seals were really old and dried out.

I'm going to gear up a pressure testing device today, and check for leaks.

Any thoughts?

Looks like a seal problem to me, but I don't remember anything between the LU and leg, so shaft seals are my best guess. my first thought was the fill and vent bolts were leaking. My 1st thought was due to my own experience this year, and some confusion by the chalk lines.

did a pressure test, top seal is leaking around drive shaft. nee a water pump anyways, maintenance. The only Kit I can find is an FK1069, nothing from Sierra that includes that seal? Even Iboats don't show a kit?
