Hey fellas, new to site and boating in general and have a couple of questions that I need help with: Where is the fuel-water separator located? and, Is there any other item that requires attention during routine maintenance? I have a 19 ft. bayliner capri with Force 125. Thanks in advance

Re: Force 125 maintenance question

Fill out your profile, you might be close to someone who can help.If you have a fuel/water seperator it will be in the fuel line, between the tank and the motor.Looks like an oil filter.Don't have one put in a GOOD one.
People put them in and never touch them.I have one from Racor with a clear sediment bowl. Not cheap about $80 but well worth it.
Get a grease gun with MARINE grease.Lube all the lube points on the motor.3-4 on your motor. Then use it on your trailer wheel bearings.Have bearing buddies?NO,get them.Remove the wheels and repack with MARINE grease.
Regular grease is ok for trucks, not boats.
Use Stabil or additives for Ethanol. If your boat sets for a while then keep it full and use stabilizers.Ethanol after time seperates into layers and attracts water.
White lithium grease.Use it on the steering at the motor. It comes in a spray and a tube for the gun.WD-40 is a good all purpose spray.Good for steering and fishing reels etc.
Try to keep all electrical contacts tight and clean.Install a second battery with a switch.Use one and if it goes dead for any reason you'll have a back-up.Leaving the radio on or a digital radio will kill your battery.
A boat that sets is a boat that will have lots of trouble.Use it.J

Re: Force 125 maintenance question

Some other items to do in addition to those that JJ suggested: Replace fuel pump diaphram(s), replace LU gear oil, spark plugs, and water pump impeller. Impeller should be changed out every other season or about 50 hours or initially if you don't know the last time it was replaced. If you don't have the maintenance history, I would do all of the above to be safe.

Regarding the fuel/water separating filter, I installed one between the tank and the bulb (mounted it in the bilge) and then an inline filter between the fuel pump and the carbs.
