Hi everyone - I'm new to the site and what can I say - Wow! Obviously some bright people on here. I was scrolling through some past post and have a couple of questions about my force outboard. Nock on wood but my Force has been good to me. I believe mine is a 88 model with black coils ect. Here's my questions: #1 Prop? My boat currently has a Stainless prop 17 pitch. Boat moves out on top end just fine (approx 40mph on gauge), but can't get my fat arse out of the water when skiing (I'm 6'1" @ 220lbs). Boat pulls wife and kids out just fine, but not me. I saw someone raving about a "Hustler" brand/style prop but I believe they also had a 17 pitch on their 125 Force. Is a 17 pitch a 17 pitch with the same performance between brands??? Don't know anything about props - will a 15 pitch give you more torgue or speed when compared to a 17 pitch? Will one 17 pitch perform completely different then another 17 pitch??? #2 I read some post about the pee holes spitting water or not spitting water. Some say when the boats under load there should be a steady strong stream of water coming out of the pee holes. Some say almost nothing comes out the pee holes under load? Mine has a good spray out the pee holes at idle/slow speeds, but when tubing behind the boat I've noticed that there is very little water coming out the pee holes under load/high speed. Water comes out, but it's more like small thicker spurts then any kind of stream and is under very little pressure? I've owned the boat for 3 years and this is always the way the motor/pee holes have looked? I replaced the impeller when I first got the boat and am planning on replacing it soon. Have I just been lucky or is this the way the pee holes should look under power??? Back to question #1 -- I really need some help getting some more torque out of this motor - where to start??? # 3 - Are there any "sharp/honest" Force mechanics/individuals in S.E. Wisconsin???

Thanks, Dave

Drop the pitch on your prop about 1" in pitch.....2" at the most for ski applications. Hole shots should improve considerably. Four blade prop will help alot but will cost some big bucks $300.00-500.00. With four blade prop you still need to prop 1" less or more in pitch for ski.

XCR5,

You cannot begin to re-prop. unless you know what rpm. your engine is operating at. The most important piece of information is the top rpm. acheived at wide open throttle with an average load.

Once you know that, you can decide on which prop. to go with.

Impeller service every other year is a good plan.

Hi,
I have the same engine and noticed the same thing with the pee holes,I think I'm right in saying that all the exhaust goes thru the prop end on open throttle therefore theres no spitting just dribbling (story of my life!!!)anyhow I've got my bottom end in bits at the moment and the impellor is like new.If its wrong it'll seize anyway!!
