Hello, first time posting here. I have a 1984 Force 125 with a Bayliner Trophy 1910. The motor ran like a champ for the last four years but so far this year I haven't been able to start it. It will turn over and the starter engages, but I'm not getting spark to any of the spark plugs and it seems like an electrical issue. So far I have tried:
1. Replacing the battery with a new one.
2. Tried starter fluid and confirmed it is is getting fuel.
3. Bought new spark plugs and a spark detector to check for spark.
4. Removed the two white magneto wires and tried to start.
5. Removed the wires from the rectifier and tried to start.
6. Checked all the wires and cleaned the main positive and negative wires.
7. Tried jiggling the throttle to make sure it's in neutral. This doesn't seem to be the problem.
From what I can find on here and other places I think my next move is probably to get a puller tool, remove the flywheel, and check the stator. One guy said that "9 times out of 10 it's the stator". I haven't done much as far as checking voltage/ohms/etc.to the distributors/etc. and I don't have a manual yet. I'm looking for input as to other things to try before removing the flywheel.
Thanks,
Dave
