Anyone have any clue on why my engine stalls when I put it in the water. Very frustrating. Was running great. Idled great. Somewhere along the line of a few weeks of owning and using it the boat motor suddenly started starting very rough and when it started running would idle fine. From there I would but the motor in the water and it would just stall. Any tips or ideas or knowledge. Thank you all

Did you install a new water pump impeller when you got it ?-----Did you test the overheat warning horn ?----Mixing gas and oil at 50:1 in the tank?-----It stalls because it is not producing proper power.----Post the actual compression test values here.----And does spark jump a gap of at least 3/8" on the 4 leads, yes or no ?----Might be running on 3 of 4 cylinders.

Oh goodness. I’m not sure about any of that. I know the gas ratio I put is 50:1. No haven’t installed anything. The guy I got it from rebuilt the whole top end from what I remember. Everything was working perfectly for the first 4-5 times taking it out. Then suddenly stopped wanting to run especially in the water. I don’t know how to do any of that compression testing stuff. Never worked on a boat motor. Also not sure what you mean about the spark jump. Plus it’s a 125 I posted the wrong hp

Well----You need to view some videos on U-tube to learn these basics.----Or find a boat shop willing to work on it and find that information for you.----They are usually $100+ / hr.----Then again it may be as simple as a sheared flywheel key.----Or fine tuning of the low speed mixture screws on the carburetors.

I have a feeling it’s going to be a carb related issue. Fingers crossed at least. I’ll keep you updated. Thank you for your help and ideas.
