I have a 1984 force 125hp outboard with a chewed up prop beyond repair, Instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars for a new one, I have a 13 1/2x19 off a 1987 yamaha 90hp elth that has the same splines and fits good on the shaft perfect. The original prop on the force is a 13x15 do you think this will work within the RPM range? Its for a 28 foot pontoon with lots of weight, I could care less about going fast "Its a party barge!" :) :) :)

Re: Force 125 propeller question

As long as the thrust washer fits right and it doesn't rub on the housing you might be able to get away with it for a while.
You need a 15p to optimize engine performance. It will use a bunch more gas too$$$$
The 19 will lug the motor and possible overheat??
I bought a prop from the local Merc dealer for about $100.
Look on e-bay and Craigslist.

Re: Force 125 propeller question

Just for your reference I am now using a 13 1/4 - 19P prop with a 125 HP 88 Force although the original is 13 1/4 17P. The engine runs good although the WOT seems to top off at 5000 RPM but gives me around 35~40 MPH with three people onboard. If you do not mind speed, you should be able to do with that prop. I'll say since you already have it, go ahead and try it. Just keep an eye on the engine and overheating. Or if you are really concern about overheating then remove the thermostat or replaced it with a cooler one or lower temp setting.

Re: Force 125 propeller question

The secret is to slowly come up to speed and determine that most efficient speed depending on the load and windage.
