Thermostat in backwards?? I don't know.

Fuel consumption appears to be a little high, but not unheard of, particularly if you have a heavy boat and are operating at full throttle. Better economy to run at 3/4 throttle.

I don't think it would fit backwards. The spring part would sit in the cover. Easy to just pull and check, and dab a little blue RTV silicone on and slap back together. But if you had it backwards, it would not warm up I would think.

Now I have checked the thermostat and it could only be mounted one way.

But still I think the fuel consumption is to high.

I run the boat at 3500 rpm ( max is 5000)
