Force 125 Trim/Tilt Follow Up Question

Hi - thanks for all that have previously posted responses on this general topic - it has really been a great help.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a trustworthy place/person that I could FEDEX a pump from a Force 125 outboard trim/tilt system so they could replace the appropriate seals in a much, much shorter amount of time that it would take me to accomplish. It (almost) goes without saying that I'd naturally cover the cost for shipping, parts and time.

The trim/tilt unit in question is leaking down quite quickly as well as allowing the outboard to lift up on reverse thrust – after reading all the forum posts thoroughly I’m wondering if the most effective route would be to R&R the pump and have someone I trust do it right the first time – after speaking with the mechanics at the local marine repair places I'm feeling like I need to keep looking for someone that meets this criteria.

The only remaining question is if a low fluid level could cause this – that’s the one thing I will need to verify, after that, I’m guessing it’s pump R&R time.

Thanks for any thoughts you could share,

Romanus

Re: Force 125 Trim/Tilt Follow Up Question

What year is the engine? If it is the pump with the allen screw, easy to remove just the valve. I will do the valves, just for the cost of the seals and return postage. Keep bumping to top. I dont have phone or working computer yet. This computer belongs to brother, and I can only use whan he at home.

Re: Force 125 Trim/Tilt Follow Up Question

Thanks Clanton,

I was hoping you might reply - the boat itself is an 1989 Capri 1900, and I have no reason to think the engine is of another vintage - the boat is unfortunately two hours away from where I am during the week, and this is why I don't have a good way to spend time diagnosing it and also why I can't answer the allen key vs. retaining clip question until I have the pump in hand next weekend.

If it's ok, I'd overnight the pump to you with a return label included for the leg home on Monday.

I hope I'm not insulting you, but I'd like to give something back in some way for your time as anything else would not be a fair request. Please let me know if, for example, you have a need for any other parts I can get for you at a marine outlet.

If it's ok to proceed with sending you the unit, what's the best way to get your address for shipping purposes?

Thanks again,

Romanus

Re: Force 125 Trim/Tilt Follow Up Question

I not looking for work from this board, but if you can not get the pump going you can ship it to this address and I will help as much as I can, you pay shipping and parts. I do not have anyway to pressure test the pump, so all I can do is inspect and replace needed seals. ship to. Include your phone number and e-mail in package.

Celso Auto Service
602 Alachua St.
Immokalee, FL. 3412

Re: Force 125 Trim/Tilt Follow Up Question

Hi -

I tried topping up the reservoir in the hope it was dry but it made no difference. I went to three different outlets looking for a pair of pliers that I could extract the retaining clips with but no luck...

So now the pump is on its on the way to you via FEDEX overnight - inside you'll find a return label, a check to cover the cost of parts, and my contact info - I really appreciate your help.

BTW, the tracking number for the package is 7914 3829 1123

Re: Force 125 Trim/Tilt Follow Up Question

Pump just came in, new seals are in. I would like to hold the pump a day or 2, while hyd shop makes me a set of hoses and gauge setup, and I will pressure test my work.
