Hey im new to the forum i hope i put this in the right place

im working on a force 125. It sat in storage for 10 years. We pulled it out about 2 years ago and got it running but the water pump was shot i was in the process of replacing the water pump when the drive key was miss placed the owners sent the boat to get some work done and while it was getting work done the shop they sent it to put the pump back together with a new key but didnt test it or anything 2 years later we get it back and i was making sure the motor was good to go before they take it out but the water pump is still not working ive tried running it with muffs and in a 32 gal tote and there is no water flow. I pulled the lower unit again and checked the water pump everything looks good. Any thoughts on what to check.

Brand new impeller? Check to make sure that the key is in it for sure. Are you lining up the pump with the tube thats in the upper housing? That tube shouldn't have any movement in it.

Also it helps to state the model number of your outboard. Remember that the water pump rotates clockwise.

Pics of the impeller, pump housing and wear plate.

Try: remove the thermostat, and start on the hose.
You need a lot of hose pressure or put the lower unit DEEP in the tote.
The water needs to be over the cavitation plate by 3-4 inches.
The deeper the better.
The pump isn't self priming and needs to be covered by water on initial start.

Well i feel dumb lmfao. I dont think the motor muffs were getting a good enough seal and all we had was a 32 gal plastic tote and it definitely wasnt 3-4 inches above the plate more like 1 inch above the inlet:facepalm:. i will try again tomorrow and report reporthank you all for the quick replies
