Have 150HP 89 engine with Prestolite CD ignition system. Recently discovered No. 4 cylinder was not getting spark. Assumed wrong that it was the coil. Ordered a new one and installed. Noticed that new versions from CDI have primary wire on a terminal that ends up very close to ground. After installation, boat ran fine for a short while. Began to miss bad. Returned to dock and discovered that primary lead on new coil was loose. In any event now we do not have spark on no.3 & 4. Purchased manual and downloaded info from CDI. All suspect Stator. Have not located peak voltage meter yet to check, but wonder if primary wire on coil shorted to ground and destroyed CD units. Ready to put old coil back on but must determine if stator or Cd's or trigger are bad. Any suggestions. rbarret6@rochester.rr.com
