Force 150 not running: spark timing looks wrong

The engine will not run. It kicks over but will not continue to run. I took a timing light to each spark plug wire and found #1 was firing at #3 and #2 was firing at #4. Cylinders #3, #4, #5 were firing at the right time. I looked at the wiring and it looks reasonable (the ignition pack and stator wires from 1 & 2 are independent from 3 & 4).

Background: Last fall I think I crossed the battery connections (- to + and + to -) and cranked the motor over several times. One of the ignition pack started leaking oil. I replaced it and it was still not working. I took it to a mechanic and the mechanic said the stator and the other two ignition packs were bad so they were replaced. Now all 5 cylinders give a spark but the engine will not run. Another mechanic suggested that the trigger was bad so I replaced it. I bench tested the trigger and both the old and replacement trigger impedance where consistent across all trigger pairs. The stator was new from CDI the other parts were used.

The timing needs to be set when at full throttle, plugs out and the wires grounded.
Always include the year, model, serial# when asking questions.

I believe one of the first three posts has the procedure for setting the timing.
Maybe u-tube ?
Or get a "factory" manual.
Lots on e-bay.
After market manuals don't have the detail needed to get anything done right.
