I was wondering if anyone has ever tried the boyseen power reeds to improve performance, and, if so, are they worth the money? Thank you in advance.

Re: Force 150 reeds

Depends on what your expectations are. If you're expecting a mediocre motor to start performing like a brand new high performance motor after you put them in.....it isn't going to happen. I've used several brands of composite reeds over the years. You might see slight improvement in idling characteristics, and maybe a tad better throttle response, but nothing to really jump up and down and scream about. Are they worth it...I don't know, it's a pretty subjective thing and depends on what your personal priorities are. Last motor I used them in had a couple of broken reed petals and the OEM replacements were 4 times as expensive. So in that case, yes they were definitely worth it.

While I haven't used them myself, I did work on a couple of engines with them and I wasn't very impressed. In fact, I was on the fence about buying a set myself and after working on the engines I decided not to spend the money.

I have tried substituting the rubber coated vee blocks and square tipped reeds for the round tipped petals and there was no improvement in performance either.

Thank you, but I was just curious if they were worth the upgrade... if it is not broke, don't fix it..lol...
