I have a Force 150 engine that is stuck in the down position (in the lake). I have replace the relays, but only get a clicking sound (no power). Does anyone know how to bypass the tilt and trim system so I can get the engine up...I need to get it on the trailer and out of the lake to look at the pump and motor?

Pull the green and blue wires from the solenoids.Put one at a time on the hot post of the solenoid. This should raise or lower the unit.
This don't work? Then the motor is toast and u have to dismantle it and somehow hook up a drill to the armature and turn it.
There might(depending on the unit) be a pressure relief valve but I wouldn't touch that unless I have to.
What year and serial#
Not Frank but maybe that will help.J

Re: Force 150 tilt stuck in down position

First, look for a circuit breaker inside the engine cowling and reset if needed.

If that is not the problem then hot wire the trim motor directly to a battery. To reverse direction simply reverse polarity of connections. If motor does not spin when hotwired, then motor is bad. If motor spins but system does not move then (because your engine is a 150) the most likely fix is a ram rebuild and a fluid flush.

if the fluid is red on a 150HP then you can not ignore the possibility of a split trim piston o-ring. it remains suspect #4 on your list -

bad relay
circuit breaker tripped or bad power
trim motor broken
trim piston ring split

Thanks for everyones help...the motor was bad. Using the drill to lift the trim worked perfectly. Boat is now in the garage. Next step is to find the parts. Where is the best place to find Force replace parts?

Re: Force 150 tilt stuck in down position

There aren't any current model Force trim motors as good as the original. If your motor does not have heavy rust on inside then get it rebuilt. If not, then ebay or google search for "Force tilt motor". If you use the word trim in your search you get stuff like door and headlight trim.

The chinese motors for Force aren't too bad. Get some of that plasti-cote stuff for dipping tools (or liquid electrical tape) and seal up the top bolts & cable entrances.
