Hello,

My check valves are bypassing, and I am unable to get them apart as others have shown in previous threads so I am looking for replacements. I cannot for the life of me find the part number for these bloody things. I have the prestolite pump, and I found the whole new replacement valve body/pump on ebay (TRM8000), and I've found the older style check valves that use the c-clip to be held in (F17620), but not the newer version that I have that thread in with the 1/4 hex. I've uploaded a pic I borrowed from another thread showing what I need exactly.. just minus the shuttle.
If anyone knows the part number for these that would be appreciated - or a trick to get mine apart without destroying them

The threaded spool valve body with 1/4" recessed hex has thread sealant hence a little hard to unscrew. But using patience and a little heat will do the job. Do not try disassembling the unit installed. instead dismount it making sure you marked the tubing where they go. Do not disconnect the motor, instead just dismount it from the valve body.

To unscrew the spool valve body, try using an impact driver. The rest of procedures and the O rings you will need are in this sticky post.

The most important O rings are the carb needle o ring for the hexagonal check valve in the spool valve. PNW recommends using the briggs and straton carb kit o ring for replacement. And they perfectly work. As for the other o rings in the shuttle valve, I just used viton o rings which I bought from harbor freight.

Thank you for the reply Jiggz! I suppose my original post wasn't too clear, I have removed the check valves from the valve body. But what I'm having an issue with is actually getting the check valve apart - getting that cap off the end to access the little o-ring. The link you provided does explain how to do that, so I will try again tomorrow.

Yup, I learned that first hand on how to remove those caps from the body without scoring it using those auto clip pliers. You can also use pliers with rags but the automotive clip pliers are perfect. Just make sure you use a washer slightly bent for the pliers to pivot on.
