Do a compression and then a spark test(check each cylinder) post the results.
You using the fast idle in the shifter?
Starting procedures? A tiny bit of starting fluid won't hurt.
If I may add; Make sure you are cranking the engine with a TESTED GOOD battery! a weak battery will not spin fast enough to produce enough electricity to create spark.
