Hi,

please, let me introduce myself:
My name is Cristian, I am 50 years old and I am from Romania, a nice play for hunting, fishing and boating.
I watch this forum few years ago and I like because is very helpful.
I kindly ask for help in this problem: I have a Force(Mercury) 50 hp, 2 cyl, s stroke, mounted on a beautiful boat with a small cabin, Vega 499.
I bought a tachometer Kus (6000 rpm) and I tried to wiring to my boat.
I put the blue wire from tacho on negative pole from my battery, the red on positive and the black wire(sensor) I put it on grey wire which is coming from my regulator/rectifier.
Doesn't work. In idle indicated me 5000 rpm.
I tried already a lot of combinations of setting speed ratio.
What I do wrong? The grey wire from my regulator isn't for this?

Thank you for helping me,

Christian, a freshwater sailor
P.S.

Add pics of the tach and close pics of the wires.
You can't post pics until you have 3 posts but can use Shutterfly to add pics.
You sure the tach is the right one?

According to what I see on line, you have the new tachometer wired correctly. The gray wire from the Regulator/Rectifier is the tach signal is attached to the Black wire on the tach. It looks like it might be the settings on the tach itself. It looks a little complicated to change the settings, because it depends on how long you hold the button in. I would check the settings again to make sure they are set correctly. Your stator has 12 poles so your tach should be set to 6 (H-006.0) on the "Speed Ratio" display.

Finally, I had time to check the tachometer. I set on 0006,0 and it is working fine.
Thank you for advices.
