Force 40 (1995) Overheat buzzer probs....

hope you guys can help<br />Got a Force 40 on a pontoon boat which I keep getting the overheat buzzer on...many say i need to do the water pump. It spits some spray and steam but no steady stream (i understand thats normal) any suggestions... only second season with boat, some days it dosent do it, some it does it 3-4 times...<br />also anyone know any good shops in candlewood lake area of CT??<br />thanks

Welcome to iboats,Learjet. <br />If this engine has the original impeller in it, or has not been changed-out in two years, change it.<br />This is the standard maintainence on all outboard impellers. They're neoprene or rubber,and wear out fast allways.<br /><br />Change out the therostat also. It's only about 10 dollars,and it's good insurance. If, after all that, the alarm still sounds, well, mabee it is shorting out. But it's a bad plan of attack,to second-guess it.
