1.) Its hard shifting into first and idling low? andything i can do to make this a smooth transition with out hammering it down and givivng it full throttle so it kicks into gear?
2.)Everytime i go to put it into reverse it shuts off? how do i go about fixing this?
3.) the odd time i go to turn the key over and it just clicks once ? and doesnt turn over? any suggestions>

if you guys could help me please keep me posted as i have a fishing trip coming up that i need to prepare for!

First, there is no such thing as shifting into first, it's either in gear or in neutral. There is a sticky post on top of the forum discussing the proper setting for idle rpm and also the idle fuel mixture screw adjustment. Both are critical for idling. As for sometimes the starter doesn't crank over, check and clean all major electrical wires, i.e large red and black wires. You need to dismount them, clean both mating surfaces shiny clean and tightened back. If this does not mitigate the problem, the solenoid needs to be tested or it could also be the ignition switch.

Sounds like the carb needs a good cleaning and the air screw set.
Then the idle raised so it won't stall when going into gear.
Turning key and nothing: Could be the shifter needs to be lubed or the cables need replacing?
The hard shifting: unhook the cables at the engine and try shifting by hand.
That easier? replace the cables or the shifter. No help? Then the shift rod into the lower might be binding?

We are going to try to adjust the cables as they didnt come stock it doesnt look like and looks lke they are out of adjustment because then i go from Neutral to Forward i dont get any power just rough idling till i get down to 3/4 of full throttle before the engine takes off, and when i go into reverse the cables barely move at all but when its running in water it stalls.. any suggestions, im new to these outbaords and dont really know how to adjust the cables so if someone could help me almost give me steps, or pictures that would be greatly appreciated .. i dont know where to start in the enging or at the control box!
Thanks ahead for anyone willing to write a post back and help me out on this issue!
