I just bought a 96 jon boat with a 40 horse Force. The prop thats on it has no numbers, they've been "sanded" off, along with most of the blades. The range of pitches on new props to fit this thing has me baffled what to buy. The boat is a 96 Voyager, flat bottom, 16' with 48" bottom if that helps. I primarily fish a small curvy river with frequent starting and stopping to run bank lines. Any advise is appreciated.

Re: Force 40, what prop to buy

Hopefully some Chrysler Force guys will come by.
Did you look under the prop nut? A prop shop can probably measure your prop.
Without a tach (tinytach) and gps thats probably the best way to select a prop.
Assuming the motor is also a 96 it uses a merc gearcase.
My stab in the dark a 13 or 14" pitch. If it seems to be under propped don't run it too fast.If it seems to struggle assuming the motor is healthy you will need less pitch
but that would seem extreme to me.You might go on the Chrysler/Force forum and ask if they can help you here.

Tom. if you will buy a Quick Silver Black Diamond in a 14" pitch you will do about 33 MPH and it will work great with that setup, and you ought to be turning right at maximum RPM of 5,250.
