Force 50 driveshaft spline seal and retainer (upper part of shaft)

Does anyone have instructions on how this seal/retainer is replaced? I took off my lower unit and this retainer and seal came out with it. The seal damaged. WHen it came out, the brass retainer was inside the rubber boot seal, but I cant tell if that is correct. I have the Force motor serice manual, but I can't find installation for that part.

I'm hoping I can just put it at the top of my driveshaft and it just goes up in the mid unit as a pressure seal kinda thing...

The seal retainer is placed with the cup side up (facing the splines) while the rubber boot seats on the retainer with its longer side.

Thank you Jiggz! So its pretty much a plunger! Just put on tip of driveshaft and it collapses to form the seal.

Thanks guys this was driving me crazy. Mine originally was upside down
