Greetings. This is my first post on this site.

A fellow I know has a Force 50 on a pontoon boat. Had no compression on 1 cylinder. Found to have a hole in the piston. I know a bit about small engine repair, but not much about outboards. The question I have is as follows: Is it possible to change a piston without totally dis-assembling the engine? I didn't get a chance to look the unit over closely, but I was thinking it may be possible to remove the head and the intake, and release the connecting rod and pull the piston out the top, or is the intake actually half of the crankcase? He had the unit re-built a couple of years ago, but doesn't have too many hours on since that time.

This could be a very dumb question, but thought I would ask and try to pass info on to him.

Thank-you

Brad
