I have a 1987 Force 50 motor that seizes then releases after a few tries. But still wont start. What could be the cause?

What do you mean precisely when you say the engine seizes. Be specific and descriptive. If your engine really seized up I don't think you'd be cranking it anymore.

Re: Force 50 motor seizes once in awhile

Welcome to iboats. The 50HP Force likes starters.
Shoot some wd40 in the plug holes, and turn it over on the muffs a few seconds. Replace the plugs. Take some fresh mixed fuel in a spray bottle. Spray a few squirts directly into the carb's throat, and crank it.
If it fires off or sputters like it wants to fire off, your problem is fuel-related.
If not, see if you have spark.
If not, disconnect the black with yellow stripe wire at the terminal strip on the port side of the engine block and crank. If spark returns, the lanyard switch, ignition switch, or wire harness is bad.
