I have a 1990 Force 50. I had it running in a bucket and it seemed to be doing pretty well. It did get really hot though to the point where if I threw water on top of the head the water would boil. I took the lower unit off and inspected everything and put it back on and it was pumping great water and seemed to be cooler except I noticed water coming out of the spark plug holes and it bogged down a bit while running.
I'm assuming the problem is the water jacket gasket which is the red thing there in the picture. My question is how do I go about getting the water jacket gasket off since it seems to be stuck. Do I just pry in between until it comes off?
Also the compression on the cylinders is good but that piston looks pretty bad. Do you think it's a problem?
