Hi guys and gals, if any of you remember me I had and still run my old 56 10hp Johnson but now I have a new project.. Picked up a boat with a Force 50,
has spark and it tries to start, fires on both holes while holding the starter it will almost run by itself then it will back fire and begin the slow climb to almost wanting to run on it's own again.. I pulled one plug wire at a time and tried to stat it, did the same thing both holes acted the same... tried different plugs.. so this tells me it's whatever controls the spark. CDI??

Has plenty of fuel carb is ok
Compression is 60 75 *** this is concerning to me I am looking up numbers after I post this
Previous owner said he was at 21mph and it slowly died.. would not start, turned over but never ran again
Oh ya there is rtv sealant at every seem, head gasket, block everywhere.. he said it was rebuilt few years back..
Thanks.....

Not feeling good about this one. You need fuel, spark, and compression to run. Your compression numbers are only half of what is desired.

That's what I'm trying to confirm.. has the same as my old 10hp.. thinking it should be way more than that.. Thanks ..

replace the Force 50 with this 85, 120 118 115 for compression, runs good, tilt and trim work.. gonna clean the carbs, water pump thermostat, gear lube.. should be good to go.. paid 400 for it. found it right down the street.. .
