Have a Force 50HP 2cyl. That will not start (very weak spark). I have done some measurements:
Stator resistance:
Red & Red/white wire = 98,1 OHM
Blue & Blue/White wire = 400,5 OHM
Stator voltage at cranking:
Red & Red/white wire = 18 Volt AC
Blue & Blue/White wire = 8 Volt AC
Coil resistance:
Input from blackbox to negative = 0,3 OHM
Input from blackbox to spark plug = 952 OHM
Negative to spark plug = 952 OHM
The engine no is 0E007767
Can anyone please help and tell me if the above values are OK or not.

Re: Force 50HP spark problems.

Resistance values from "the book".............
in OHMS

Stator high speed; 90-140
stator low speed winding;6800-7600
Trigger; 700-1000
Primary ignition coil winding; .02-.04
Secondary ignition coil; 800-1100

But, as long as you don't have an open across a coil winding, let's see what's wrong with it....

Do a battery test. Then, pull an amp reading from the starter. The reason for this is to elliminate the possability that the starter is sapping all the ignition's available voltage durring cranking. A quick-n-dirty test, is to pull-start it,and see if you have a stronger spark.
If no improvement, try it again, but disconnect the brown lead on the terminal strip, port side of the engine. This is the kill circuit lead. With it disconnected, nothing is going to place the ignition to ground. If there is a problem with this wire,(a short to ground in the wire itself, ignition or em-kill switches, or connectors), you won't be able to shut the ignition down. So be ready on the fuel line. Or better yet, disconnect the fuel line, and give each carb 4 or 5 squirts from a spray bottle with mix in it.

Re: Force 50HP spark problems.

I have tried to connect a separate battery for the ignition, so there is a battery for the starter and one for the ignition. It did not help.

I will try the kill circuit lead. Thanks.
