I have a 1989 Force 85hp. It cranks but won't start. I have checked the impedence on the STATOR. There are 2 blue wires, 2 yellow wires and 2 green/yellow-stripe wires:

between 1st blue and 1st yellow: 739 ohms
between 2nd blue and 2nd yellow: 741 ohms
between both green/yellow-stripe: 1.4 omhs.

Is that normal or is there one coil burned? Is this the reason why it won't start. Please help...

Re: Force 85 hp stator question

the two green with a yellow stripe are going to the rectifier. the first solid yellow @ blue have to be check going to a cd unit. the solid two green going to the next cd unit.when reading ohms check the one that are going to the cd unit, should be more than 600 ohms on each.
