Force 90 rises on it own

OK fellas, I have a 1996 Bayliner Capri SF 1704 with a Force 90 outboard motor. It is equipped with the automatic tilt button on the throttle lever. Everything works great . . . until I am out in the water and I started gaining speed, then the motor slowly starts to rise out of the water. I am SOMETIMES able to accelerate very gradually and I don't have a problem, but if I try to gun it, the motor comes up automatically and I have to completely pull the throttle lever back before it will come down by pressing the automatic switch.

From what I know about hydraulics, it seems it may need more fluid, or at least be bled. It has a screw/bolt on the side, which I unscrewed slowly with the motor all the way up to avoid fluid squirting everywhere. (It did not.) As I slowly took the screw/bolt off, kinda milky fluid dripped out, at which point I put the screw/bolt back in place and tighten it up again. The color of the fluid obviously does not seem right. I will definitely replace that, but I am not sure if this is the cause of the "viagra-effect" my motor is having.

Also, I think I know how to drain the fluid, take the screw/bolt off and move the tilt up and down to get all the fluid out. But how do I get fluid in? I mean, the hold is on the side. Do I just fill it with whatever it will take in that position? Do I need to worry about air inside? There are no hoses to bleed. It is just like a hydraulic jack, although I did not see an air escape. Maybe I need to look further.

And another thing, the motor does not have an engine clip/pins, the kind that holds the motor down, usually about 9 or 10 inches long. Could this be my problem? I just don't see how that would be the problem because it would not allow the motor to trim at all.

I've rattled on long enough. I just wanted to get enough info out there. Obviously a "newbie" at this, so your help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you will find the problem to be in the controls at the helm.

Loose or broken wires at the switch are making contact when the handle is pushed forward.

I had about the same problem but mine would do it in the driveway also, if I left the battery connected.
My problem was a corroded switch at the helm.

I'll try that. Getting into the control lever looks like it is one solid unit, so I am not sure how much I will be able to detect in there, but I will give it a try.

Thanks for the help.
