I have a 1996 120 HP Force by mercury. It had low compression in one cylinder so I am parting it out on eBay. It seems the powerhead on the mercury force motor is the same as the older force motors, just with a different electrical/ignition system.

My question is: Is the crankshaft/pistons from my 1996 motor the same as the older pre-mercury force motors? I want to be able to say which motors these parts are compatible with when I list them. I am pretty familiar with the pre-mercury force motors and these parts seem identical but I just want to know for sure.

It's my understanding that they are, but the man to ask is Frank Acampora... that man knows everything there is to know about these motors.

I believe the crank is the same, but the pistons and rods are specific to 1996-1999 Force engines. See my private message to you.
