Good day, 15 hp Force (by Mercury) Once tuned at Mercury dealer they wrote on invoice that it was a 1997 from some hidden number on engine, and I had no reason not to beleve them. Bought the OB used.

Been shopping for a prop and Iboat shows 1997 props to have 8 splines. Prop on my OB is 9 diam by 6 pitch with 10 splines. Bought a used prop on ebay for spare but it's a 9 X 8 and will not push the boat at right speed and motor labors a lots and remain low rpm.

Serial number is 286222 Anybody has a clue to what year it realy is ? and where I can find an original prop ?

Thank you

Hi there, your serial number seems to be missing a letter. Force usually has/starts with an 0E****** but your number not coming up in an automated serial number search. So you may want to double check it. In the mean time, if it is an 1997, then item number 31 will be your OEM prop part numbers for you to choose from as a stating point.

Here's your parts catalog for you to.

Hope this helps, Good luck.:)

i've got one of those motors too, but the 9.9 version (used the same prop as the 15). i have been looking for a better prop for 4 years. the 8x9.25 FP6477 prop is the only one that i was ever able to find. michigan wheel used to make one, mercury used to have a stainless one, but the plastic PF6477 is the only thing that's still in production and available to buy.

if you come up with anything different, please come back and post about it, i would really like a prop that's pitched a little lower... in fact if yours is really a 9 dia x 6 pitch, i would really be interested if you ever want to sell it.

The 9 x6 is a keeper. I have a spare prop which is a 8 X 8.25 and I find a BIG loss of power and wot speed using it and rpm are way lower. I cant imagine using a 8 X 9.25

Triple check with my local Merc dealer and the 9 X 6 is NLA
