Alright, replaced key switch found out it was not bad. I think it is something with the ground wires from installing new powerhead. Again boat starts but dies when key is released. Are there any grounds wires that may cause this if they are not grounded on the right part of the block/powerhead? Please help, the lake is up!

see below

Replaced powerhead after trying for hours to start force found blown block from fualty bearing.Tried to start for hours and several batteries worth Anyway, motor now starts and runs well but only with key turned to start. When I release the key it dies instantly, is this a bad inginition/key switch or something else. Did I burn something up in the key switch possibly? Power trim is dead also, related? Please help.

Re: FORCE IGNITION/KEY SWITCH

I replaced switch for my '70 Chrysler 55 last summer. Motor would turn over occasionally or not at all. After change , no problem anymore. If you can get it running , then solenoid is probably OK. Those switches can and do corrode. Also, sounds like your neutral safety switch is OK.

Re: FORCE IGNITION/KEY SWITCH

It sounds like the ignition key is bad. I would disconnect it, and "hotwire" start it, just to see if the problem persists. if it does, my "sounds like" is wrong, and go to the safety lanyard switch, disconnect it, and try it again...
Still no-go, remove the kill wire at the CD pack, and try it. But before you do try this, have some engine fogger handy, so you can stall it out (you won't be able to kill the engine any other way).

Soleniod is brand new so that is not it. Is there any part other than ignition that may do this. Boat is in another state and marina is miles from there. Any other possibilities would be appreciated. Also boat would not "hotwire" so I am going to assume it is switch but if anyone has any other expierience please help!

I would recheck all the connections on the terminal strip on the powerhead.
Sounds like you have ign only in start position to me.
Good luck
