Hi I just purchased a used Force 70hp lwer unit to replace the one I damaged. An acquaintence removed the damage unit and I was not present at the time of removal.
I am now ready to install the used unit and installed my original water pump because it also had recently been replaced.
Problem is I found an extra piece that I am not sure where it goes. It only fits on the top of the drive shaft so I am assuming it came out with the shaft and fits up into the crankshaft when the unit is installed.
the piece is nylon or plactic about 3/4 inch thick and about 1 1/16 inch diameter and is splined to fit top of drive shaft and nowhere else. It is cupped or dish shaped on one side so I am wondering if the cuppped side faces up towards the engine or faces down towards the lower unit. thanks for any help.
