I think a new catagory should be made for just Force related problems. Any one second...

Being a unfortunate Force owner myself...

Re: Force Outboard Motors

Why?? There are just as many (if not more) problems with other motors of the same age as there are with Force. Dont believe me.......????

Go back and look. I too am a Force owner. I did have to rebuild it once and replace a stator last year. it is an 89 150 hp. Other than that no problems. I do take care of it as well as the boat - a 19 ft Arriva.

Deerdog

Re: Force Outboard Motors

after a short search, it's Merc that needs it's own category. No, wait..It's Johnnyrude. It just doesn't matter. But then, you guys are missing an important fact:
there is so much that is common in the way one maker's engines run and all the others. Remove it from the loop, and you miss-out on a great database of info, because you went and stuck it into a category that you wont read (if you had a different make).
But anyway, back to "ENGINES AND MOTORS"-----------------------------------

Re: Force Outboard Motors

It was really just a joke. I have been reading all post for a couple of weeks now and find all the info usable.

I posted about my Bayliner W/ 125 Force got hot and shut down. And with the info from you guys is why I decided to rebuild my engine myself.

I have since rebuilt the engine and am now cruising the lake once again. No problem with getting parts and or help with specs. Force is really not that bad, but a bad rap is hard to overcome.

I bought the boat and headed for the lake- NO homework at all. Just simply grabbed the Ice chest the wife and full throttle end-O-story.

I think I have grown some in the past couple of weeks.

:)

I agree Force is not a junk engine the problem is lazy owners who dont know or dont want to maintain them have given them a bad rep. I too reciently bought a 91 cajun 17' bassboat beauty, garage kept well maintained what woried me was it had a Force 120 hanging on it. Hear all this bad press on it on this site and others, but i tell ya the truth i've had it out 7 times now and had to tow new boat with Vmax back to ramp.I want to boat and fish not spend triple the money on yammie or merc.

Re: Force Outboard Motors

have worked on many a Force and Chrysler OB and presently still do. Basic and simple. My problem is with the quality and composite of the metal they use to build them. anyone who has worked on them knows that compared with OMC, Merc, Honda, Yamaha, etc. the metal is vastly inferior. Thats why they don't last. Sorry Force fans.
