Hello: I'm new to this forum and just looking into replacing the propeller on my 1986 Force 85HP engine, The old prop has a few chunks out of it and it should be replaced. I know Michigan propellers has one that should fit, but I dont want to pay the $50 dollar shipping charge. Royal distributing here in Canada has a propeller called the Solas Rubex 3. They say it will fit a 1999 Force engine. Just wondering if anyone has bought one of these. I bought the hub and tried it and it fits the shaft, but only if I remove the large rubber washer that is just before the thrust washer on my prop shaft.

Re: Force Propeller

If it "fits" (splines) then OK. The rubber washer had to be just a spacer. Diameter and pitch are a major concern so you don't buy something you can't use.

Re: Force Propeller

The gear case on the 1999 lower unit is 4 1/4 inches in diameter, and the outer hub diameter on the propellers for these gear cases are made to fit accordingly. The gear case diameter on the 1986 lower unit is 4 inches in diameter. The outer hub diameter on the propeller for the 1986 gear case is smaller to fit the 4 inch gear case. The Solas Rubex 3 prop will probably rub against the gear case if you put it on a 1986 gear case.

Looks like the Solas Rubex 3 for a 75HP engine has a 4 inch hub. Same diameter and pitch. This may work I think.

Re: Force Propeller

If the spline count on the hub matches up it might.

Here is an outfit that I've used before and the price includes shipping to the continental U.S.. Not sure about Canada, or if they even ship to Canada. Might want to give them a call. They're one of the few places that I've dealt with that really know their stuff about Force outboard propellers.

Re: Force Propeller

A prop for a 75 might not be right?
Gotta find out the dimensions of the Solas prop.
Figure out the pitches?
OEM was a 13X17 or 19
Solas is supposed to be a good product.I've not bought one.
Get yours redone???And stay out of the rocks:)
