Hello Everyone, I was wondering if anybody has a repair manual for 1990 Forse 50Hp, that could scan the section for Impeller replacement. I would like to take it out tonight and buy the new one in the AM along with the service Manual. Thanks alot. Randy

Re: Force Repair manuals. Need to replace impeller

Welcome to the forum,Randy.
They are easier than most. Undo the 4 bolts holding the l/u to the leg.
On the Starboard side under the cowling, you'll see where the shift rod enters the leg going to the l/u.
It has a jam nut about 2" long on the threaded portion, held by a lock nut on each side. Shift into forward gear, mark the postion of this jam nut, so you can put it right back where it was...Trust me, it's a buggerbear to resync the shifter if you don't mark it well.

It should practically fall off (yea right), but realy... If it binds at all,it's the driveshaft binding. Ground-out the plugs, and kick the starter a couple times, and it'll end-up on the driveway for ya.
Good luck. Lettuce know how it goes....I'm goin to bed
zzzzzzzzzzz

Re: Force Repair manuals. Need to replace impeller

Well Thanks alot. I got it off and it looks a litle worn. Not as bad as I thought. I also took off the termo and it looks like original. I hope this was the problem. I will get the repai manual in the AM.

I also checked the plugs and all looked good no water(thank god). I am going to get a compression tester also,in the previous post I saw it should be around 165 Correct?

If the new impeller and thermo doesnt do the job any ideas on what I should do next(besides trade it for a Merc).

Thanks for your reply and sleep well.

Randy

Howdy Randy..Yup..I turn into a punkin at midnight, bad habit..anyhow, your compression should run 140-160PSI, but more importantly, they should be equal, or with 15PSI of each other.
