Force Trailering Bracket

Hello,
I'm completely new to the whole boating business and I now have a 1986 Bayliner Capri cuddy 1600. the previous owner was not helpful since they were many missing components to the tilt mechanism of the force 85 motor. I'm trying to figure out how the trailering bracket fits in to the transom holes. (this motor doesn't have the automatic tilt mechanism) I got a used stern bracket lock bar that I can finally use. (the reverse lock bar is also gone so I'm a bit at lost at how this works with the engage /disengage lever).
If anyone has photos of how the whole thing looks like that would be great so I can figure it out.

Thanks.

First, welcome aboard

Second, on your 1986 bayliner, the motor is the least of your issues. have you checked your transom for rot?

I don't see a trailering bracket but I may be missing something. On my Force, albeit a bit newer, I want to say you had to tilt the engine completely up and then flip the lever up from the mounting plate, then lower the motor back down onto it. This is going off all of (1) season on the Force as I was that enamored with it. Draw your own conclusions from there.

What Scott was trying to say was that your boat is now well over the intended life of the unit - usually 15 years is the max for the lifespan of a boat before it requires either major overhaul OR a trip to the nearest landfill...dealers choice on that one. Your boat is well over that life expectancy so unless its a gem that's been stored in a garage, babied its entire life, chances are pretty good you have a few lurking structural issues such as the transom as Bayliners of that vintage were slapped together in a hurry with little/no attention to detail. I remember them lined up outside our local K-mart back in the day...again draw your own conclusions.

So IF you've done all the tests on the structure on your antique, yes its an antique as its over 30 years old, boat and its come back fine....great. If not, for your own safety & sanity you might want to dig below deck and make sure what you believe to be solid actually is solid.
