I just found a in good condition used trim unit for a 85hp force. Problem, when i hooked up the lines to the pump 3 out of 4 lines were leaking. I dont think the pump threads are bad. Is there a certain way that you have to put them on, or is it just insert and tighten down. If so I am going to get the money back.Just since there was 3 leaking it makes me think that i am just putting them on wrong. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated Thank You

Re: Force trim leaks

As long as the flare, or base of the fitting is all the way in the other fitting, it is correct. HOWEVER, I think your problem may be missing o-rings. Look for a recess in the fitting that looks like it should hold an o-ring, and get an o-ring that fits (available at all hydrolic hose shops), and it should sovlve your problem.

Re: Force trim leaks

as with all hydraulic and flare style fittings, plumbers tape or teflon tape on the threads can be an easy solution, just make sure you don't get any of the tape inside the fluid passage of the line.
