1988 Force Outboard 125 HP. Trim motor runs when switched to lower but will not run when switched to raise. Could this just be a relay issue?

I checked the switch and it test good.

I have exactly the opposite issue. Got mine to work by releasing pressure...loosening hydraulic connections. I think there's a pressure switch on the motor that gets stuck. But yes, it could be (and is more likely) the relay. Swap them and see if it goes up but not down.

If you hear clicking when your trying to raise the trim, then it is definitely the relay switch.

wardog, your first post is the classic description of a bad relay. seeing that new relays are under $5 each you should just try it. You'll spend $70 worth of time troubleshooting the system to prove it is (or is not) the relays. So just stick in new ones and see if ti works.
