Hi-

I just did a bunch of wiring on a guys 18.5' Mirrocraft that has an '89 85hp Force. The trim switch on the control handle is non-functional. I have it working through an auxiliary switch but the guy wants to replace the switch in the throttle handle. Anyone have one for sale? How much? Local boat shop apparently can't get one. Would like new if possible. Thanks!

Ebay is still the only decent place to conduct a nationwide search for old stock liquidations. The bargains aren't there nearly as often simply because the ebay fees are running 15% of ticket and higher. But until craigslist does national, it's the only place I know of other than google/yahoo.

Re: force trim/tilt issue

The switch in the handle is so small, it is almost a micro-switch. At least mine is. It is a tiny thumb activated switch in the side of the handle grip. It is not sold separately. You must buy the whole handle/switch/wire assembly for an outrageous price, and I don't know if they are available.

When mine went, I disassembled the handle and when I could not find a matching switch I pryed apart the existing switch and fixed the contacts inside, then crimped it together again.

It absolutely must be a standard switch; no manufacturer would make a custom switch for that type application, but where to find it is the question. If I remember correctly, mine has a Japanese name and a number on it but I would not know where to begin to find it.

Unless you know where to get one, it is WAY easier and WAY cheaper to use a dash mounted single pole M-O-M switch. Next time my switch malfunctions, that's the way I'm going to go. Not as convenient as a thumb switch in the handle, but easier to replace and service.

if it is not a normal item then try mouser electronics. They are like the grainger of electrical stuff.

Thanks for the info- Ihave it on a spdt momentary right now and it works great. I think he is looking on eBay. If no luck I will probably take the switch out and see if the mouser.com link has one with the same chassis. Most switches are one of about 16 or 20 types I understand.

Thanks!
