Can anyone show me a pic of where the water is suppossed to exit on a 50 hp Force outboard? The two holes where I think it's suppossed to come from only have exhaust coming out of them. It doesn't come out by the prop, does it?

Yup. :)

But some should come out of the two holes too, at least when the boat is stationary or moving slow.

Is there a safe way to tell? I've got the lower unit in a metal trash can filled with water up over the water inlets and when I run the motor, there is a lot of aggitation in the can, but I thought that was from the exhaust itself. I don't want to run the motor too long if the impeller isn't working properly.

you should get a slight spray only at idle out of the 2 "idle relief" holes that aggitation is the exhaust coming out of the snout above the prop. if you see no water coming out of the holes at all, I would check the impeller just to be safe. Do you have a "plug" threaded into your t stat housing? if so you can put a nipple on it with a tube to make a tell tale
