ford 2.3 starter will not engage flywheel

I installed a new starter last summer, used it fine no grinding, and winterized.
I take her out to start her for the summer and the alternator is shorted thanks
to the forums help with that. now the starter will not engage the flywheel
Not a grind and I have move the flywheel an the starter will not touch the flywheel
along the whole wheel????????

starter works fine spins up and extens missing the flywheel
