I have this old sea-ray with a ford 351 windsor and a velvet drive with a tr lower. The rod bearings are shot and i am trying to figure out what to re-power the boat with. Does anybody know if a 460 would bolt up to the drive or am i limited to a small block 302/351 windsor family?

Re: Ford 351 re-power

have to stay small block and within the windsor family of engines.... Grab a 351 roller block out of a 92 to 96 f-150 or 250... swap out the fuel injection for your marine parts and jam er back in.... the reason i say go post 92 is that year they became roller blocks instead of hydraulic flat tappet...

i cant answer your ford question but you need to know if your looking at a 460, be sure and price-find exhaust manifolds before hand

if swapping might want to consider a gm power plant for parts ect.

Re: Ford 351 re-power

Id love to throw a gm small block 305/350 in there but i dont think the bolt pattern on the bell housing will bolt up to this drive. Does anyone know if the 351 m block uses the same bolt pattern as the windsor block? I dont know much about the ford family of blocks. Will the 92 block bolt up to this intake from 1974? or are the 351's like the gm 350 with different head angles after 86?

Ayuh,... You either need a Windsor block, or convert Everything to Chevy....

351M block uses 460 bellhousing and motor mounts, and its part of the Cleveland family.

351 Cleveland is a smallblock, 351m 400 as you say would bolt to a 460 bell.
It's a family of it's own and IMO the worst pig of an engine ford ever produced.
I think his best option would be as mentioned with the late model roller lifter block and marinize with existing parts off old motor.

Re: Ford 351 re-power

This may be a dumb question, but why not keep the electronics & fuel injection that would come with a newer truck engine?

The parts where none of it is marine llegal or safe in any way, there won't be an O2 sensor, and 100 other problems.
