I don't drive it often, its a 96 van, 5.7 litre.

Lots of squealing when I started it so I popped the hook and the smog pump is seized.

I got a replacement pump but can't get the old one out.
Access is typically impossible, its positioned below the alternator.

I removed the belt, then the pump pulley, I can get at the front bolt but can't break it free. even with a 16 inch breaker bar.

So it looks like I am going to pull the radiator, then I can hit the bolt with the impact wrench.
Is this a good plan or am I missing something.?
I installed this radiator so I am familiar with removal ( front grill has to come out).
Seems rediculous but thats what I'm gonna have to do so far.

Any tips?

Re: Ford E350 smog pump

Sounds like the steel bolt has seized to the aluminum smog pump. Happens all the time with alternators. If you can get a long punch or chisel in there try to break the housing of the smog pump.
