Ford Explorer Transmission Fluid Change??

Somewhere I read of a procedure for changing the transmission fluid for a 93 Ford Explorer that includes the fluid in the torque converter. Something to do with bumping the starter to get access to a drain hole of some sort. Seems to me if you are going to change the fluid you should change all of it.

Any idea of where this might be covered or how to do it?

Howard

there is a rubber plug on the bottom of the bell housing after you pull that you have to spin the motor until you see the plug. take it out and let it drain. the best way according to ford is to machine flush and change filter.

I agree with jimr. The simplest and safest is to take it to an oil change place where they have one of those transmission transfusion machines. They'll usually give a discount if you ask, because they like to use it.
