So, I'm spraying fogger in the engine through the spark plug hole and the little red tube (like the one on a can of WD40) goes "poof" into the hole. I've tried everything to retrieve it but cannot. So, my question is this; Do I need to? Will the heat of the engine eventually melt it and burn it up or do I need to take the thing apart and retrieve it?

This has come up before. I believe the consensus was it will just pass through and be fine.

The next time :
if its a carb, spray it in the carb until the motor stalls
if its FI, use a remote tank with the mix.

That plastic won't last long on startup. If you wanted to get creative, use thin aquarium tubing and a small piece of sticky chewing gum on the end. Even so, it would be like using one of those little coin operated claw machines to get the teddy bear. ;)

The only thing you would be worried about is if you still want that little red plastic nozzle tip. Otherwise, its history on start up. JMHO!

Post #3 has the correct way to fog should you desire to. however for over 30 years with I/O's have never fogged one for winter.

Get the cylinder to TDC, cover about half the hole with a vacuum tube. It might draw it out.
