Mercruisr 5.7 (Carb with an electronic Fuel Pump)

I have done maintenance on my boat for years. I did forget one step though this time. I changed my fuel/water seperator filter but forgot to fill it up with fresh fuel Did I mess up bad? Please for the love of Pete, Bob, Steven, and the 7 Dwarves I don't have to take it off the fill it up. If not, anything I need to be aware of or do?

Thanks I-Boat people, you are the best

It's ok. It will just crank a bit longer until fuel gets through the system.
Is the filter hard to take off?

No sir, just a pain in the ................you know. The filler tube for the tank and the fuel line from the electric fuel pump to the filter bracket must be moved to access the filter............I just didn't know if I messed anything up. Does the electric fuel filter turn on when you turn the key to run (but not cranking over) or does it work when cranking over?

Just fire it up. The motor will run on the fuel in the carb, and shortly after the electric pump will have displaced the air in the filter and have fresh fuel flowing to the carb

Everyone was right. It took at few extra turn of the key to get it started (fill the fuel filter) but at the 4th time she fired up and came alive. Spend the entire day on the lake without any issues. Thank you again everyone. Now it is time to post a prop question on the other forum. :)

On a normal working system, the engine has to be cranking to run the fuel pump.
