I was winterizing my 1989 Mariner 175 outboard this past weekend and forgot my spark plug wrench so I was unable to spray fogging fluid into the plug holes. I was wondering how vital of a step that was in the process and if I should make the 100 mile trip back down to the shore to do it. I sprayed plenty into the carbs and turned the engine but did not get it directly into the plug holes. Will I be sorry in the spring?

Also I am a little concerned that water wasn't coming out of the tell-tale "pisser". The engine seemed to run fine at an acceptable temp but nothing out of the pisser. I only ran it long enough to warm up and spray fogging fluid in.

Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks, Brian

The "Pisser" on my 1150 merc. was plugged with mud right at the nozzle, next time you go back, poke a fine wire in and see if its plugged.

If you got plenty of oil in,I agree you'll be fine.Actually,if I can get enough fog oil into an engine to make it quit,I don't pull the plugs.Figure the oil fouls the plugs,so no need.

DHP

You will be ok.... Did you put some SeaFoam in the gas tank?? In spring, shoot some air into the Pisser hole (not Yours)and it should clear it out. It not, get a pipe cleaner and rheam it. Wasp's and spiders love living in there.

Thank you all for your replies and helping ease my mind. I do use Sea Foam thanks to the members of this Forum. Happy with it so far.
